Sickness Absence Policy and Procedure - Support for Colleagues and Managers

The Sickness Absence Policy and Procedure has been updated, with the new version coming into use with immediate effect.

In order to support colleagues and managers in understanding this key policy, two e-learning modules have been developed, please see below for details.

Absence and Attendance

Target audience: all employees

This short e-learning package is designed for all university staff, and outlines the key features of the university’s approach to absence and attendance at work. It focuses mainly on sickness absence but also contains links to information about other absence and attendance issues, such as annual leave.

As well as answering many common questions about sickness absence, it will also guide to you further sources of information and guidance should you need it.

Managing Attendance

Target audience: people managers

This e-learning package is designed as a ‘follow-on’ to the associated e-learning package titled “Absence and Attendance”. It focuses on the responsibilities of you as a people manager, and will help you when using the procedure in the workplace.

It would be beneficial for you if you have already completed the Absence and Attendance e-learning, however it is not a prerequisite if you already have some knowledge of the current University policies and procedures on these issues.

Further learning materials on managing absence and attendance will be launched from late March onwards.
