Safety - Health & Safety Forum

Why do we require a Health and Safety Forum?

  1. It provides an arena for Wellbeing to communicate with the Safety Coordinators.
  2. It provides an arena through which health, safety and wellbeing concerns can be discussed and communicated across the University community.
  3. It ensures a consistent approach to local implementation of University Strategy, Policies and Procedures.
  4. It allows for the identification of significant safety, health and wellbeing matters which can then be formally communicated up to the University Health and Safety Committee.

How do we ensure the Forum representatives are able to carry out their role?

  1. Through appointing appropriately qualified individuals.
  2. By providing support and training where required:
    • Wellbeing provide bespoke training as required.
    • 37 Safety Coordinators have completed an accredited British Safety Council course (Certificate in Supervising Staff Safety).
